Type -Moon confirmed this Saturday the development of Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina, a new 2D fighting game scheduled for release in early 2027. The title will arrive on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One and PC via Steam.

The game will currently feature voice acting only in Japanese, while the text will be available in several languages, including Portuguese. The game maintains the core of the franchise but includes adjustments to the combat system, as well as the addition of new playable characters.

Melty Blood Twi-Lumina returns with new features

According to the official description, the game promises refined mechanics and more strategic options in battles. The story continues to explore conflicts within a dream world, maintaining a connection to the universe of Tsukihime, a classic work by Type-Moon.

The project brings together well-known names, with Kinoko Nasu responsible for the original work, while the French Bread studio leads the development. Publishing will be handled by Aniplex and Aniplex of America.

Based on the Tsukihime universe

Like its predecessor, released in 2021, the new game is based on the remake Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, featuring characters such as Shiki Tohno, Arcueid Brunestud, and Ciel. Each fighter has variations in color and their own backstory.

In addition, the franchise also expanded its content with the spin-off manga Melty Blood: Type Lumina Piece in Paradise, published between 2022 and December 2023.

With its release still some time away, the new project reinforces the series' continuity within fighting games. For more anime, follow AnimeNews and stay up-to-date on upcoming seasons and releases in the otaku universe.
