The July issue of Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Zenon announced on May 25 that manga will end with two more chapters. And if there are no breaks, the manga should end in July.
The manga began its final arc, Mononoke: Bakeneko, in March 2018 and the first of 2 volumes was released on December 20, 2018.
The 2007 Mononoke anime is the spinoff of the Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales anime. Specifically, it follows the arc's medicine seller “Bakeneko” (Goblin Cat). The anime has five arcs, the last of which is titled “Bakeneko”.
The original adaptation of Ninagawa's manga, which Square Enix published in two compiled volumes in 2008, also followed the anime's "Bakeneko" arc.
Ninagawa went on to draw manga adaptations for the other four anime arcs, which Tokuma Shoten published instead of Square Enix. Tokuma Shoten published the most recent arc, Mononoke: Nopperabo (Faceless Monster), in a compiled volume in November 2017.
The original Mononoke anime streams on Crunchyroll and other streaming services.
