Warner Brothers has officially announced that the live-action adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa Fullmetal Alchemist is scheduled to premiere in Japan in the winter of 2017. Filming is scheduled to begin in Italy in early June and conclude in Japan in the second half of August.
previously reported , the film will star Ryosuke Yamada , Nagisa in the live-action Assassination Classroom, as Edward Elric ;
Tsubasa Honda Futaba in the live-action Blue Spring Ride , as Winry Rockbell (top right of the image below);
Dean Fujioka , Roy Mustang (bottom left of the photo); and
Yasuko Matsuyuki as Lust (bottom right).
Fumihiko Sori (live-action Ping Pong) , the film's director, said: “I want to create a style that follows the original manga as closely as possible. The cast is entirely Japanese, but the cultural background is European. However, it's a style that doesn't represent a specific race or country.”
