The name and release date of the new Naruto film titled The -Naruto the Movie- were announced in this year's 35th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump . The film is scheduled to be released on December 6th . It will be the first film in the last 2 years of the series, and is part of a more comprehensive project called “ Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project ” (New Era Opening Project) that marks 15 years of the famous manga .
Masashi Kishimoto appears in the credits as the creator of the original story, character designer, and chief screenwriter of the film. For this film in particular, he drew new designs for the characters. The magazine shows some designs titled “Ramen Ichiraku” and also comments on the draft of Naruto's new concept design: “ Naruto's body is toned, with thinly cut hair and a very adult expression ”.
A 15-second teaser will air during the anime's showing on July 31st , and finally, the full trailer will begin showing in theaters on August 1st . Furthermore, next year an exhibition will open in Japan.
From 2004 to 2012, new Naruto films were shown every year. The ninth film, “ Road to Ninja ”, was released in Japan in July 2012 and became the highest grossing film of the entire franchise.
