Despite growing rumors of another delay, Nintendo has confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 is still scheduled for release in 2025. The company confirmed this information in an official statement and reinforced its commitment to the return of one of the most anticipated franchises of this generation.

The title, which has undergone a complete overhaul since its original announcement in 2017, has recently reappeared in international events and listings, reigniting fan anticipation and reinforcing signs that the game is, in fact, nearing completion.

The long road from Metroid Prime 4 to 2025

Since its initial reveal in 2017, Metroid Prime 4 has undergone a troubled development. Two years after the announcement, Nintendo decided to restart the project from scratch, claiming that the original progress did not meet the quality standards expected by the franchise. From then on, the game disappeared from the spotlight for years. In 2023 it resurfaced with a gameplay trailer and a new release window for 2025.

This revival has rekindled the interest of players, who had previously only seen re-releases like the Metroid Prime 1 remaster and the brand-new Metroid Dread. The new phase of development, now led by Retro Studios, promises to recapture the essence of the series with updated features and a focus on the capabilities of Nintendo's new hardware.

Speculation about delays still surrounds the project

Even with the recent confirmation of a 2025 release, the lack of substantial news in recent months has generated uncertainty among fans. Reece 'Kiwi Talkz' Reilly and other influencers have reported that Nintendo planned to release Metroid Prime 4 alongside the Switch's successor, but delayed the game due to technical issues.

Speculation gained momentum after Metroid Prime 4 appeared in a confusing advertising campaign on the London Underground, suggesting a lack of alignment between marketing and production. Furthermore, reports indicate that the game is still in the adjustment phase, reinforcing fears that the release date might be pushed back to 2026.

Nintendo reinforces the game's presence at Fan Expo Canada

Contrary to rumors, Nintendo has released its schedule for Fan Expo Canada, an event where Metroid Prime 4 will be available for demo alongside titles such as Hades 2 and Borderlands 4. Nintendo reaffirmed that it will release the game in 2025, maintaining the planned timeframe.

Furthermore, the confirmation that the game has received an age rating in South Korea also indicates that the final production phase is underway, fueling expectations of a more concrete announcement soon.
