The Instagram profile @Sandman_AP retrieved an old interview with Eiichiro Oda, in which he discusses his health problems. According to the information, in 2022, he spoke about his habit of going several days without eating and gaining a lot of weight when he resumed eating. His doctor then warned him about his high blood pressure, but Oda didn't consider it a major problem.

“The biggest change since the beginning of One Piece has been my weight. I work without eating for a few days and then eat everything at once when I finish, so I gain a lot of weight. My doctor has been warning me about my blood pressure being too high, but I don't think it's a big problem.”

Synopsis:

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red-Haired, to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates.
