Hinata Shouyou , while watching a volleyball match, becomes fascinated with “the Little Giant”, a skilled volleyball player, deciding to join his school's volleyball club, however he is the only member of the club. After 3 years he finally completes the team and heads to compete in the Spring Tournament.
However, his first opponent is the favorite in the finals. It is at this moment that Hinata's meeting with Kageyama Tobio, the “King of the High Court”, takes place. Although they lost the match, Shouyou is still determined to take the title from Kageyama, and be the one who remains on the court. Upon entering high school, he is surprised that he and Kageyama, once opponents, are now in the same school and club!
