Hinata Shouyou , after watching a volleyball match, becomes fascinated by "the Little Giant," a skilled volleyball player, and decides to join his school's volleyball club; however, he is the only member. After 3 years, he finally completes the team and heads to compete in the Spring Tournament.
However, his first opponent is the favorite in the finals. It is at this moment that Hinata meets Kageyama Tobio, the "King of the Upper Court". Although they lost the match, Shouyou is still determined to take the title from Kageyama and be the one who remains on the court. Upon entering high school, he is surprised to find that he and Kageyama, formerly rivals, are now in the same school and club!
