The Persona franchise , one of Sega and Atlus ' most popular RPG series , is headed to Netflix in a live-action adaptation. According to information released by Variety, the project is in development and will feature experienced names from the television industry behind the scenes.

Christopher Monfette will write the series, as well as serve as executive producer and showrunner. The production also reunites Shawn Levy and Robert Atwoodfrom 21 Laps, the studio behind the phenomenon Stranger Things, while Toru Nakahara will represent Sega on the executive producer team.
Between school and the supernatural
Originally launched in 1996 as a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series , Persona follows Japanese high school students who balance their school routine with supernatural threats. Over the years, the franchise has gained a foothold in the global market thanks to its combination of social elements, strategic combat, and character-driven narratives.
Currently, the series has six main games and several spin-offs. The most recent release was Persona 5: The Phantom X, in 2025. In addition, Sega has officially confirmed the development of Persona 6 in June 2026, while Persona 4 Revival is coming in February 2027.
The production brings together important names
The adaptation will be produced by 21 Laps and Story Kitchen, a company specializing in turning video games into series and films. Among their projects are adaptations of Tomb Raider and Life Is Strange. Netflix has not yet officially commented on the production or revealed a release date.
