One Piece remake reveals trailer featuring Luffy's classic voice

Netflix released the first teaser for The One Piece , a new remake of the anime produced by Wit Studio , during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival . The video confirmed special news for fans: veteran actress Mayumi Tanaka will return as the voice of Monkey D. Luffy , a character she has played since the original series premiered in 1999.

In addition to confirming the main cast, the teaser presented updated versions of the Straw Hat Pirates and other important characters from the East Blue. The anime's official account also revealed new artwork from the premiere episode, titled "Romance Dawn," marking the beginning of the new adaptation based on Eiichiro Oda.

A new journey through the East Blue

The first season will consist of seven episodes and will adapt the first 50 chapters of the manga in approximately 300 minutes of runtime. The worldwide release is scheduled for February 2027 on Netflix. The project celebrates the 25th anniversary of the One Piece anime adaptation and will retell the events that gave rise to Luffy's journey.

Production brings together a large team

Masashi Koizuka, known for his work on Attack on Titan, is directing the One Piece series at Wit Studio. The script is by Taku Kishimoto, while Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda are in charge of character design. According to George Wada, president of Wit Studio, the goal is to offer a more dynamic pace, reducing extended content present in the original version.
