Capcom will shut down Resident Evil Re:Verse on June 29, 2025. Starting March 3, the company will remove the game from digital stores, preventing new purchases. The multiplayer title, released as a complement to Resident Evil Village, will become inaccessible after the servers close.

The decision comes after a performance below expectations. According to Steam data, the game peaked at only 2,115 players and has recently remained in the double digits. In the last 24 hours, only 18 simultaneous users were registered.

Purchases for Resident Evil Re:Verse are now closed

Resident Evil Re:Verse was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise. However, the concept of battles between iconic characters in deathmatch games with up to six players failed to win over the public.

The title was available for PC (Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox, but since its release it has struggled to maintain an active player base. Despite initial community support, the game failed to reverse the low engagement.

With the game being removed from stores in March, characters, skins, and other additional content will also be discontinued. The Premium Pass will remain available until June 29th, but without the possibility of a refund.

Capcom recommended that players use any benefits they acquired before the servers were shut down. After that date, all game content will be inaccessible.

Official farewell from Capcom

In a statement, Capcom thanked players for their support and stated that the title fulfilled its commemorative role. Therefore, the company declared that Resident Evil Re:Verse reached a "new turning point" for the franchise, justifying its decision to end the series.

Despite the justification, the numbers indicate that the game failed to maintain relevance within the community. Its lifespan, of just over two years, reflects the difficulty of establishing a solid multiplayer experience within the Resident Evil universe.
