Synopsis for Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
The plot follows the journey of Princess Sakuna, a spoiled harvest deity and warrior, who, along with her loyal companion Tama and a small group of humans, is exiled to Demon Island. This situation arises after the humans inadvertently invade the Celestial Realm, home of the gods, inadvertently causing chaos while Sakuna attempts to contain them. Unable to send the humans back immediately, the supreme deity, Lady Kamuhitsuki, entrusts Sakuna with the responsibility of caring for them while simultaneously purifying the island of its demonic threats. This mission must be completed before the humans can be sent back to their own world.
Developed by Edelweiss and published by Marvelous, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin was first announced on November 10, 2020 for Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam. The game was subsequently released in Japan on November 12 and in Europe and Australia on November 20.
