To celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary, this month the animated adaptation produced by Madhouse studio is being re-aired in Japan, a compilation book of illustrations was published in March, and various themed events are taking place throughout the country. The magazine Nakayoshi, which published Sakura Cardcaptor from May 1996 to June 2000, revealed that the manga sold over 12 million copies in Japan. In Brazil, it was published by JBC. There are also two films: Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie , which premiered in 1999, and Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card, in 2000.
The new manga will take place during Sakura's first year of high school, after she has graduated from Tomoeda Elementary School. She will have a mysterious dream, followed by an incident.
