The RPG Sea of Stars, released in 2023 by Canadian developer Sabotage Studio, will receive a free expansion on May 20th. The new DLC, called Throes of the Watchmaker, serves as an epilogue to the main campaign, and adds approximately eight hours of new content to the protagonists' journey.

The adventure marks the return of Zale and Valere, now with new abilities and classes. They face a new villain, the Fleshmancer, who wields the dangerous Eclipse Magic. However, this time, the duo will not be alone. A new ally, the Artificer, a mechanized marksman, joins the group in a completely new world.

Horloge will be the new stage for the journey

The story unfolds in Horloge, a cursed land created by the Clockmaker character. Known for building the Mechanical Castle and inventing the Wheels hobby, she emerges as a central figure in this new phase of the saga. Horloge, despite its charm, harbors dangers that defy logic and demand quick adaptation from the heroes.

Zale and Valere set aside their traditional weapons to take on new roles. He transforms into a juggler, while she becomes an agile acrobat. These changes are part of a unique progression system, exclusive to the expansion, which also brings new combos and revamped abilities.

The plot delves into the Clockmaker's legacy and reveals the side effects of her obsession with temporal inventions. Thus, in this context, the cursed carnival threatens to distort time in Horloge, and it's up to the group to prevent the total collapse of local reality.

In addition to enemies, the setting introduces new puzzles and exploration challenges. The environment promises to blend elements of classic fantasy with time-travel mechanics, expanding the scope of the adventure without losing its nostalgic essence.

Music and gameplay remain the highlights

The soundtrack will once again be a draw for fans of the genre. Eric W. Brown, composer of the original game, returns in partnership with Yasunori Mitsuda, known for Chrono Trigger. Together, they are responsible for the DLC's music, which promises to maintain the high standard of the main game. Furthermore, Sabotage Studio stated that the budget for the additional content is comparable to that of the base game.

All platforms where the RPG is already available– PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and PC – will receive the new adventure simultaneously. This guarantees immediate access for all players, without exclusives or delays.
