Seishun Buta Yarou: Crunchyroll will distribute the new film in the franchise

Crunchyroll has announced that it will distribute the next film in the Bunny Girl. Titled Seishun Buta Yarou wa Yume-Miru Shōjo no Yume wo Minai, the film will premiere on June 19, 2025.

The film adapts the sixth and seventh volumes of light novel series Seishun Buta Yarou, also known in Japan as Aobuta and in the rest of the world as Bunny Girl, by author Hajime Kamoshida. The feature film premiered in Japan in June 2019.

Anime and Adaptations

The first anime in the franchise, based on the first five volumes of the novel, premiered in October 2018.It was streamed internationally by Aniplex on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

This film, now available on Crunchyroll, precedes the films released in 2023, which adapt the eighth and ninth volumes of the novel: Seishun Buta Yarou wa Odekake Sister no Yume o Minai and Seishun Buta Yarou wa Ransel Girl no Yume o Minai, respectively.

New anime in July

The franchise will receive a new adaptation on July 5 , 2025, titled Seishun Buta Yarou Santa Claus no Yume wo Minai. The anime will cover the "University Student Arc" of the light novel.

With the conclusion of the literary series and new animated productions, fans can expect further developments in the exciting story of Sakuta Azusagawa and his encounters with supernatural phenomena related to adolescence.

About Seishun Buta Yarou

The popular light novel series is nearing its conclusion. The fifteenth and final volume, titled “Seishun Buta Yarō wa Dear Friend no Yume wo Minai”, was released in October 2024.It concludes a journey that began in April 2014 with the first book.

The series has already surpassed the 3 million copies in circulation and continues to be published in English by Yen Press.
