The anime Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You) revealed a new promotional video during AnimeJapan 2026, bringing details about the main staff, theme songs, and an advance screening in Japan. The animation adapts the manga by Jinushi, published by Square Enix.

Team and songs are confirmed

The production is being handled by Asahi Production, with Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori directing. Mio Inoue is responsible for the series scripts, while Yasuka Ōtaki is in charge of character design. The soundtrack will be composed by Shin Kōno and Sayaka Aoki.

Furthermore, the video highlights the opening theme performed by the band ZUTOMAYO. The ending theme, in turn, will be the song "Fiction," sung by the musician imase. The main cast includes Takuya Satō as Sasaki, Seena Hoshiki in the roles of Yamada and Tayama, as well as Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki.

Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari premieres in July 2026

This romantic comedy follows Sasaki, an office worker exhausted by his daily routine. His favorite part of the day is visiting a local supermarket, where he meets the friendly Yamada. However, an unexpected encounter with the mysterious Tayama ends up changing his life.

The anime will have a limited advance broadcast on the ABEMA in June. The official premiere will take place in July 2026 on the TBS network and 27 other Japanese affiliates. Meanwhile, the manga continues to be published in Big Gangan magazine and has already garnered several accolades in the market.
