20th Century Fox Animation revealed during CinemaCon , an event held in Las Vegas, that the Snoopy (Peanuts) film, a classic created by cartoonist Charles Schulz , will be produced in CGI, and not in 2D, as was being speculated. The feature film will be directed by Steve Martino (Ice Age 4), and a script written by Craig Schulz in partnership with Bryan Schulz (son and grandson of Charles, respectively) and Cornelius Uliano. The film will be a joint production between 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age, Rio). The adaptation rights had been acquired in October last year by the studio, but nothing was yet known about the animation style that would be used. By betting on CGI, Fox may be making a risky decision, as the characters have thousands of fans around the planet and, if the result is not pleasing, it could have a negative effect on the box office. Snoopy is scheduled to hit theaters on November 25, 2015, in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the release of the Peanuts comic strip, and the 50th anniversary of the first episode of the animated series aired on TV (A Charlie Brown Christmas).
