Studio White was born with webtoons of Lodoss and SAO

My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.

A new partnership between WEBTOON Entertainment, Kadokawa , and RedIce Studio has resulted in the launch of Studio White. The label focuses on adapting well-known Japanese properties into the webtoon format, targeting global readers on WEBTOON.

The first project already has a name and a release date. The premiere will be an adaptation of Record of Lodoss War, a classic work created by Ryo Mizuno, with an initial release in Korean on May 9th. Other versions, including Japanese, English, and French, are planned over the next few months.

The new story presents a brand new arc within the Record of Lodoss War, with an original concept overseen by Mizuno. The design adapts the narrative for vertical reading, the webtoon format, offering a more dynamic and accessible experience for mobile devices.

Expansion with major franchises

In addition to the premiere, Studio White has already confirmed future adaptations of popular Kadokawa titles. Among them are Sword Art Online, by Reki Kawahara and abec, Slayers, by Hajime Kanzaka, and The Familiar of Zero, by Noboru Yamaguchi. Production will be handled by RedIce, known for hits like Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint.

This initiative reinforces the industry's movement to adapt established works for digital formats. With a strong catalog, experienced production, and global distribution, Studio White attempts to create a direct bridge between classic franchises and new audiences.
