The second Sword Art Online film , * Scherzo of a Deep Night *, has received a promotional image. According to reports, it is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters this fall (October-December)
Therefore, the film is based on the light novel Progressive by author Reki Kawahara. The novel was released in 2012 as a revised version retelling events that took place in Sword Art Online.
The film is directed by Ayako Kouno (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso) at A-1 Pictures, with character design and animation direction by Kento Toya.
Synopsis:
The fifth floor of Aincrad is a dimly lit area of ruins and relics. In the beta test, this floor was the scene of many PKs, so Asuna asks Kirito for a PVP duel lesson. Asuna considers Kirito a very wise and reliable person, but she depends on him a lot. For this reason, she will seek to gradually become independent of him on this floor
