The anticipation surrounding GTA 6 is enormous. With the release drawing ever closer, a new concern arises: how much will the next Rockstar title cost? In a recent interview, the CEO of Take-Two, the company responsible for the franchise, commented on the pricing policy and hinted at the possibility of prices above the current standard.

Without revealing specific numbers, Strauss Zelnick emphasized that the company's priority is to deliver more value than what is charged. This statement reinforces rumors about a premium launch edition, indicating that GTA 6 may debut with multiple versions and different prices.

Take-Two suggests special editions for GTA 6

During an interview with Variety, Zelnick made it clear that Take-Two's pricing model is based on offering more than the consumer pays for. According to him, the company adopts a flexible pricing logic, adjusting prices according to the value proposition of each release, with the goal of maintaining a balance between cost and delivery to the player.

This approach opens the door for the inclusion of different versions of GTA 6 at launch, with additional content and distinct prices. This strategy has already been adopted in titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2, making it likely that the model will be repeated with Rockstar's new big bet.

Zelnick also suggested that the company is keeping an eye on industry trends, such as offering differentiated packages.

"The industry has been releasing games with different editions. This can include a Premium version with extra benefits for the player," he said.

GTA 6 could exceed US$70 at launch

The executive's statement raised concerns about a possible price increase for the launch of GTA 6. Analysts are already speculating that the premium edition could exceed US$70, reaching up to US$100 in more complete packages, with digital bonuses, early access, and advantages in online mode.

Zelnick has already publicly stated his position on the added value of AAA games, and he reiterated his defense of this idea:

"We want to ensure that the consumer has an incredible experience, because they paid a fair price for it."

The comment reinforces the company's view that the price charged needs to reflect the quality of the game, especially in games with such an ambitious scope as GTA 6.

Price should fall over time, says CEO

Although the initial price of GTA 6 might scare off some players, Zelnick reassured the public by reminding them that prices tend to decrease gradually.

"The price tends to decrease over time, as is natural in the industry," he stated.

This model allows the company to maximize profits in the first few months, while still guaranteeing future access to customers who prefer to wait for promotions or more affordable versions.

The real value may be in GTA Online

More than the shelf value, the main source of profit for the GTA franchise in recent years has been the online mode. Since 2013, GTA Online has generated consistent revenue through microtransactions, a trend expected to continue in GTA 6.

This strategy reduces the pressure for a high base price. Analysts suggest that, even if the game costs more at launch, the financial return will come primarily from online play.

The release of GTA 6 promises to change industry standards

With a release date set for May 26, 2026, GTA 6 not only carries the expectation of raising the technical standard of open-world games, but should also directly influence how major publishers approach the pricing of their titles.

In the interview, Strauss Zelnick emphasized that the company's priority is centered on the quality of the experience offered to the player. According to him, the feeling of fairness in the relationship between cost and delivery is one of the pillars guiding the development of the new title.

Even without a confirmed release date for the PC version, the game will be launched first for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
