Oh my God, my mind is exploding with this…. After several years of shelving the live-action film project “Akira”, Warner Bros. is now reportedly considering making a trilogy, with Christopher Nolan (Inception, Interstellar, Batman Trilogy) involved in the production… how cool is that?
According to a post on the Den of Geek , director Nolan met with a director previously associated with the project to discuss possibilities for Akira. This meeting reportedly took place within the last three months, but the director's name was not revealed. Over the years, Akira has been directed by names such as Albert Hughes, Jaume Collet-Serra, and Ruairi Robinson.
Currently, the director's position is vacant, and it's unlikely Nolan will take it. Marco J. Ramirez, screenwriter for Sons of Anarchy and the Daredevil TV series (of which he will be one of the main producers in the upcoming second season), is the current screenwriter for the film.
