It has been announced that the manga The Apothecary Diaries ( Kusuriya no Hitorigoto ) will be adapted into an anime. According to reports, the new anime will be animated by two studios, Toho Animation and OLM. The series will premiere on Japanese television this year.

The film is directed by Norihiro Naganuma, with a screenplay by Shinotoko and character designs by Yukiko Nakatani.
Synopsis:
The story takes place in a large country in the middle of the continent. Mao-mao is a young woman who works as a pharmacist in a Hanamachi (a neighborhood with many brothels). She is kidnapped and sold as a servant to the palace. But she hides the fact that she is a pharmacist; she works very quietly, waiting for the new year to arrive. One day, however, she hears a rumor from a coworker that the emperor's children are dying one after another, and using her knowledge of pharmacy, she discovers the cause.
Therefore, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) began its publication in October 2011 in Shousetsuka ni Narou and its physical publication began in August 2014.
Finally, the novel had two manga adaptations simultaneously, the first by Nekokurage published in Big Gangan and the second by Minoki Kurata published in Sunday Gene-X.
