Moreover, the work itself was very well written and crafted, making it a complete waste that it isn't more famous.
4. Mushishi: Now, another work that is surreal is Mushishi. It deals with supernatural creatures, but not as great villains. Rather, they are seen as a part of nature that should be respected and embraced. Our protagonist is an expert on these mysterious creatures, and we follow his various adventures around the world, where he helps both humans and the Mushis. Furthermore, this duality and passivity permeates the work in an incredible way and is simply beautiful to watch.

Now, opening our top 3 is Rainbow. There, we follow the lives of some teenagers in prison, where they suffer the worst atrocities you can imagine, yet each of them never gave up on their dreams. In fact, seeing them help each other and then pursue their ideals is phenomenal and inspiring. Whether a singer, boxer, or businessman, each one somehow managed to achieve the goals they so desired, and it's a work full of reflections.
02. Katanagatari
Here we have one of the best stories I've ever seen. At first, the work might seem a little monotonous and simple, but as the plot progresses, we encounter a variety of surreal experiences. Each character fights for their own goals, and it's beautiful to see the romance between our heroes blossom. Finally, let's mention the ending of this anime, which surprised me greatly. But to avoid spoilers, I won't say anything and strongly recommend that you watch it!
01. Monogatari Series
Finally, we have this marvel here. Monogatari tells the complex story of a half-vampire who spends his daily life dealing with the oddities that exist in the world. Through these stories, we follow wacky tales, where the author's trademark is plenty of comedy, philosophical conversations, and outrageous references. Therefore, I recommend that everyone watch and especially read this work.
