Square July Enix announced today the passing of artist Kayaharuka, creator of the manga The Misfit of Demon King Academy. The artist passed away on 6th. The author's family has already held a funeral.
Although the Square Enix announcement did not include the cause of death, Kayaharuka had been suffering from pancreatic cancer since at least 2019. The manga adaptation of The Misfit of Demon King Academy was recently canceled so that Kayaharuka could undergo treatment, but what was not known was that Kayaharuka had sadly already passed away at the time of the announcement.
In Kayaharuka's statement regarding the manga's cancellation, the author stated that he regretted that the manga had to end in this way.
The manga adaptation of The Misfit of Demon King Academy was launched in July 2018 on the Manga Up website, and Square Enix published the fourth volume on March 5th.
