The Toaru franchise has received another update to expand its universe. The anime Toaru Anbu no Item has revealed a new promotional trailer, as well as theme songs and an official premiere date. According to the official website, the series will premiere on Japanese television on October 9, 2026.

The released video features the opening theme “Ghost Sequence,” performed by the band East Of Eden, while the ending theme will be “Genshi Kuzushi (Meltdown),” by the band Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets. The production adapts the light novel written by Kazuma Kamachi, creator of the A Certain Magical Index.
The hidden side of Academy City
The plot follows the members of the ITEM organization, a group that operates behind the scenes in Academy City. The story explores the so-called "dark side" of the technological metropolis, following Shizuri Mugino, Rikou Takitsubou, Frenda Seivelun, and Saiai Kinuhata on missions that take place far from the spotlight.
The animation for the anime Toaru Anbu no Item is being handled by JC Staff studio, with Tatsuyuki Nagai , known for his work on A Certain Scientific Railgun, directing . The character designs are by Shigeki Kimoto , while the soundtrack is composed by Maiko Iuchi .
Finally, the light novel already has six volumes published by Dengeki Bunko and also received a manga adaptation in 2023.
