1. Denji – デンジ
Our protagonist in this story is named Denji, a 16-year-old boy with messy blond hair. He has brownish-yellow eyes and sharp teeth to match. As a boy, he inherits a huge debt from his father to the yakuza after his death. After meeting Devil Pochita, he becomes a Devil Hunter for the yakuza in an attempt to pay off his debt.
2. Makima – マキマ
Makima is a mysterious girl in her early twenties. She is a Public Safety Demon Slayer, and has taken Denji as her human pet. Makima is cunning, intelligent, and manipulative, controlling Denji by exploiting his attraction to her with promises of a romantic and sexual relationship, while threatening him with extermination if he disobeys her. Although Denji truly loves her, Makima is merely captivated by the Saw-Man within Denji's body—or, more precisely, within his heart.
3. Aki Hayakawa – 早川アキ
Aki Hayakawa is a Public Security Demon Slayer, working under Makima's Division 4 special squad. He has a contract with the Curse Devil and the Future Devil, allowing him to use a powerful spike in exchange for his life and see a few seconds into the future. Aki is generally a very stoic person, as well as acting maturely and reliably when he is with his fellow demon slayers.
4. Power – パワー, Pawā
A Blood Fiend and Public Safety Devil Hunter who is part of Makima's special squad. As a demon, she has red horns protruding from the top of her head. She loves violence and is both childish and greedy, almost entirely self-motivated and willing to harm others for her own satisfaction.
5. Kobeni Higashiyama – 東山コベニ, Higashiyama Kobeni
Initially Kobeni has an unidentified contract; she became a demon hunter in part because her parents forced her to work to support her older brother so she could go to college. Despite her timid and cowardly attitude, she is skilled and talented – her reflexes and stealth are unparalleled when she is motivated.
6. Himeno – 姫野
Himeno is one of the main characters in the anime Chainsaw Man, and Aki Hayakawa's first partner. Phantom Demon Contract: Himeno has the ability to use the Phantom Demon's power in exchange for permanently sacrificing her right eye to the Demon. Himeno can summon and control the Phantom Demon's right arm, which is invisible and intangible. By swapping her entire body, Himeno can summon multiple Phantom Demon arms to attack and subdue her opponent.
7. Kishibe岸辺
First and foremost, the strongest demon slayer in the organization. Older than most of the other slayers, he is scarred and cynical. He trains Denji and Power, and was Quanxi's partner in his youth.
Thus, author Tatsuki Fujimoto launched the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018, finishing the first arc in December 2020 with 11 volumes. In Brazil, the manga is published by Panini.
