My name is Rafael Alves, known as Shinzo. I created the AnimeNew website in 2009 to offer news about anime, manga, and games directly from Japan.

Following the final episode in Japan, it was confirmed that WataNare (Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wakenaijan, Muri Muri! or Muri Janakatta!?) will receive a sequel in film format. The movie will premiere in Japanese theaters on November 21 , 2025, accompanied by a trailer and promotional visual.

The film's plot follows Renako Amaori, a formerly shy and lonely girl who decides to reinvent her life in high school. She joins the most popular group in school, but soon finds herself at the center of an unexpected double confession: Mai Oduka, considered the "prince" of the school, and Ajisai Sena, the adored "angel" of the campus.

While trying to cope with her confused feelings and the pressure of her choices, Renako agrees to help her friend Kaho at a cosplay event. However, witnessing her friend's dedication, something begins to awaken within her. Does the saying "there's no way I can be someone's lover" still make sense?

Production and team

The production is by Studio MOTHER, directed by Natsumi Uchinuma. The script was written by Naruhisa Arakawa, while kojikoji handled the character design. The soundtrack is by Yoshiaki Fujisawa, a well-known composer in the anime scene.

The work is based on the light novel by Teren Mikami, with illustrations by Eku Takeshima (Whisper Me a Love Song). Additionally, a manga adaptation illustrated by Musshu was released in 2020 on the Niconico Seiga portal.

Finally, this sequel to Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru promises to delve even deeper into Renako's dilemmas and relationships, maintaining the blend of school romance and internal conflicts that captivated audiences.
