The website for director Makoto Shinkai , Weathering with You ( Tenki no Ko ), has begun streaming a new preview of the anime . The video starts with a retrospective of the director's previous works, followed by a preview of the new film.
“In the summer of his first year of high school, Hokoda flees his remote island home, Tokyo, and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits. The weather is exceptionally gloomy and rainy every day, as if to foreshadow his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine. Then, one day, Hokoda meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strong girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky…”
The movie Weathering with You, which premieres on July 19th in Japan, features animation by studio CoMix Wave , and also includes the band RADWIMPS , who are responsible for the anime's music.
Finally, Shinkai also promises a novel that will adapt the film; he said it will be available both digitally and in print on July 18th.
