Immediately after returning to the fight, Muichiro awakened a mark on his face that made him stronger and faster to the point of surprising Gyokko. Just like Muichiro, a special mark also appeared on Tanjiro's face when he faced Gyutaro and Hantengu. Originally, this mark appears on a Demon Slayer, whose heart rate and body temperature are elevated to superhuman levels.
Such a situation only occurs when the demon slayer is in an intense life-or-death situation, as was the case with Muichiro and Tanjiro. The manga reveals that the other Hashira are also capable of awakening this mark, but this only happens in later arcs of the series.
