Momo Ayase (綾瀬 桃, Ayase Momo) is the female protagonist of the manga Dandadan . She ends up becoming close to a schoolmate obsessed with occult phenomena, Ken Takakura — whom she affectionately calls "Okarun".
This friendship triggers the awakening of Momo's psychic powers and, at the same time, leads Okarun to lose his "kintama" after being cursed by the entity known as Turbo Granny. From then on, Momo decides to help him recover his loss, facing together the supernatural challenges and dangers that arise in their path.
The first season premiered in Japan in 2024. Netflix and Crunchyroll began streaming the anime worldwide on the same date. Viewers can watch the anime dubbed and subtitled, as each streaming service produced its own dub.
What to expect from the anime Dandadan?
This is a story about Momo, a high school girl who comes from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult fanatic. After Momo rescues Okarun from being bullied, they begin to talk. However, an argument ensues between them, as Momo believes in ghosts but denies the existence of aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies that ghosts exist.
Finally, Yukinobu Tatsu, the manga's creator, has been serializing the series on Shueisha 's Shonen Jump+ since April 2021.
