Fans lament the fact that some of their anime and manga never got a sequel, as the creators behind these masterpieces passed away too soon without the chance to complete them.

6. Daisuke Satou – Highschool of the Dead

High School of the Dead screenwriter Daisuke Satou passed away in 2017 due to heart disease. Illustrator Shoji Sato mentioned that he often received comments from overseas fans who are unfamiliar with the situation telling him to continue the series, saying that “ Although it also hurts my heart that the series went on hiatus, just thinking about Daisuke Satou makes me sad. . to think I can’t carelessly engage with Highschool of the Dead .”
5. Noburo Yamaguchi – Zero no Tsukaima

With only 20 of the 22 volumes completed, Zero no Tsukaima ( The Familiar of Zero ) is one of the author's last works. Noburo Yamaguchi , had advanced cancer. The author accumulated great popularity when he started light novels of Kakikake no Love Letter and Zero no Tsukaima ( The Familiar Of Zero ). Yamaguchi however went on hiatus due to a series of surgeries carried out to stop the growth of cancer. Before Yamaguchi's death in 2013, he was able to share with his publishers the plot, including the end, of his life's work, Zero no Tsukaima.
4. Umanosuke Iida – Towa no Quon

Firstly Iida is a Japanese director, anime creator and screenwriter who played an important role in some of the anime series such as Cowboy Bebop , Kaze no Tani no Nausicaä ( Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) , Lupine III Part III , and Towa no Quon , an unfinished project. Towa no Quon is a six-film anime series that tells the story of Quon, a leader of humans with different abilities who tries to fend off a secret organization.
3. Tomohiro Matsu – Hatena Illusion

Being known for his light novel series such as Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! ( Listen to me, girls. I'm your father! ) and Mayoi Neko Overrun! . These two novels, with 18 and 12 volumes respectively, had their own anime adaptations. His last series, Hatena Illusion , was left unfinished after his death in 2016 due to liver cancer. Despite the scarce amount of content, the series of four novels received an anime adaptation in 2020.
2. Kentarou Miura – Berserk

Kentarou Miura joined the list of manga authors. Guts' long-running revenge plot began in 1989 and has remained steady ever since, although the chapters have gotten shorter as Miura has gotten older and prioritized his health over work. Sadly, after 364 chapters, Miura passed away in 2021. Although the rivalry between Guts and Griffith was not resolved, Berserk will forever remain one of the most influential stories ever written.

Akira began his creative journey in 1978 with the story of Wonder Island, which came to life in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump. He then delighted readers with other notable manga, such as Highlight Island and Tomato Girl. His name shined even brighter with the iconic Dragon Ball series. Recognized as one of the pillars of the “Golden Age of Jump”, Dragon Ball became a global phenomenon, leading Toriyama to dedicate himself intensely to the series from 1984 to 1995. During these eleven years, he produced 42 volumes, totaling almost 10,000 pages of exciting adventures. Most of his stories have been completed.
