In an interview with GameSpot, directors Jacek Zieba and Wojciech Piejko, responsible for the Silent Hill 2 , commented on the transformation the company has undergone in recent years. " We made some low-quality games before, but now we've evolved ," stated Zieba, signaling a clear shift in the studio's approach to its future projects.
Evolution and self-criticism mark a new phase for the Bloober Team
Bloober Team acknowledged that it hasn't always achieved the desired quality in its releases. Games like The Medium , despite being innovative in certain aspects, received a reception below expectations. This self-criticism led the studio to adopt a more rigorous stance regarding the quality of its future works.
According to Zieba, the team is focused on "finding its niche" within the games market, establishing itself as a developer specializing in the psychological horror genre. The company's strategy is to evolve naturally, using lessons learned from previous projects to create more immersive and captivating experiences. "Our team loves horror. It's not easy to change genres, and we don't want to," added Piejko.
With a promise not to repeat past mistakes, Bloober Team is preparing for the release of Cronos: The New Dawn , described as a blend of science fiction and horror. The studio seems to have found its identity in the genre, and the directors claim they are ready to consolidate its evolution.
“We are ready to leave behind the less successful projects and focus on titles that truly elevate the player experience ,” Zieba concluded.
Silent Hill 2 remake: turning point
Silent Hill 2 remake marked a turning point in Bloober Team's trajectory, solidifying its position in the horror game market. Furthermore, the positive reception from critics and fans reinforced confidence in the studio's potential. On the other hand, the game was also a landmark in adapting a classic for new generations, combining advanced techniques and immersive narrative. In this sense, Bloober Team's meticulous work with details and atmosphere was widely recognized, demonstrating their dedication to honoring the essence of the original.
With this, the success of the remake renewed the team's confidence and boosted their ambition to maintain this high standard in future projects. Now, the studio's new title, Cronos: The New Dawn , scheduled for 2025, follows the same line of psychological horror, promising a complex and intriguing plot. Furthermore, the inclusion of elements such as time travel may further raise audience expectations.
