The second season of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru) has received a new full trailer, as well as a brand new visual. The video highlights the opening theme "Kurenai no Ha" by the band Unicorn, and confirms the anime on July 8, 2026 on Japanese TV.

The show airs on TV Asahi's IMAnimation W block, and is also broadcast on AT-X and BS Asahi. Outside of Japan, streaming remains exclusive to Amazon Prime Video, which already has the first season available, released in April 2025.

New characters in From Old Country Bumpkin

Among the new features, the production introduced five important characters. Hanoy Cressa leads a mercenary group focused on bounties, while Kuriu Rybark wields two swords and possesses high mobility. Prim, meanwhile, provides support with natural magic during combat.

The enigmatic White Maiden draws attention for communicating only through writing, while Morris Pasyushka emerges as a central religious figure in the plot. These names broaden the conflict and the scope of the world presented in the series.

Production retains core team

The anime continues under the direction of Akio Kazumi, with a script by Kunihiko Okada and a soundtrack by Yasuharu Takanashi. The animation continues with studios Passione and Hayabusa Film, maintaining visual and narrative consistency.

Based on the light novel by Shigeru Sagazaki, published since 2020, the title follows Beryl Gardinant, a sword instructor whose life changes when he reunites with former outstanding students. The work also has manga versions and ongoing spin-off stories.
