Madhouse has revealed new information about its upcoming original film project. Titled ghost – end of night, the film has received its first teaser trailer, promotional visual, and confirmed a theatrical release in Japan on February 11, 2027. The video also features the song “Sugar,” performed by the alternative rock band Hitsujibungaku.

In addition to the film, the work will receive a manga adaptation illustrated by Himiko. Serialization begins on August 4th in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine. Before that, a special preview will be published in the August issue of the magazine, available from July 4th, 2026.
A search for what is real
The story takes place in the near future where work is no longer necessary for society. In this setting, young Neekei challenges the established order while trying to discover the meaning of what is truly authentic in a world dominated by comfort and conformity.

The team includes names from ACCA and Sonny Boy
The project marks Shingo Natsume's directorial debut with an original feature film. Known for works such as ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Department and Sonny Boy, he also wrote the screenplay. Natsume Ono created the original character designs, while Norifumi Kugai adapted the visuals for animation. Ohzora Kimishima composed the soundtrack, his first work for a feature film.
Finally, Bandai Namco Filmworks will handle the distribution .
