The manga Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest (Hokuhokusei ni Kumo to Yuke), by Aki Irie, will be adapted into an anime. The announcement came with the opening of an official website and a special illustration by the author, confirming the news for readers.
The book, published in 2016 in Harta magazine, follows Kei Miyama, a young investigator living in Iceland. The story blends mystery and everyday life, with cases ranging from simple disappearances to more personal situations involving his own family.
New phase of the manga being published

In addition to the anime, the manga is entering a new publishing phase. The so-called "second series" begins with a new volume, published under a different numbering system. After leaving Aokishi magazine in February 2025, the work is now being published by a new publisher.
This change maintains the continuity of the story and broadens the reach of the series. In the West, the publication was initially handled by Vertical, and currently continues with Kodansha USA, ensuring English versions for new readers.
Mystery, Iceland, and authorial narrative
The plot stands out for its unusual setting and the original approach of Aki Irie, also known for Ran and the Gray World. Kei has unusual abilities, such as talking to cars, which adds a unique touch to the investigations.
With a more contemplative approach, the work balances drama and investigative cases. Now, with the anime confirmed, the expectation is to see this atmosphere adapted for the screen, expanding the series' reach to new audiences.
