NC America announced this Wednesday (24) the global launch of Blade & Soul Heroes, a new action MMORPG inspired by the Blade & Soul universe. The game arrives for free on PC platforms, via Steam and PURPLE, as well as mobile devices with iOS and Android systems.
- Borderlands 4 delayed with no new date on Nintendo Switch 2
- Resident Evil on Steam with up to 75% off
The new MMORPG features a story that precedes the events of Blade & Soul. It explores the journey of the new character Yusol and revisits familiar heroes from the franchise, such as Poharan, Yura, Namsoyoo, and Mushin. Blade & Soul Heroes was developed with an anime-inspired visual style and cross-platform gameplay. Thus, it reaches different audiences and brings new features geared towards the Western market after a period of testing and adjustments since its original release in Asia in 2024.

Dual combat system expands battles
One of the main highlights of Blade & Soul Heroes is the dual combat system. It allows for real-time character switching during battles. This mechanic offers greater strategic diversity, as players can combine special attacks by switching between different heroes mid-fight.
The game is structured into 16 chapters that gradually introduce the combat system, starting with PvE modes and then progressing to PvP battles. During progression, players learn attack, defense, and dodging skills, while forming teams with up to 40 characters available for collection and evolution.
Adjustments and improvements for a global audience
Blade & Soul Heroes was originally released in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan under the name Hoyeon in 2024. Since then, NC America has made a series of changes to adapt the title to the international market.
The development team simplified the game's start, reduced tutorial time, and added the option to skip scenes to speed up access to the action. The producers also expanded the narrative by including "Chronicles," interactive stories that explain the protagonist Yusol's origins and deepen player immersion in the plot.
Among the improvements implemented are adjustments to the equipment system, which now allows sharing between up to 20 heroes, thus optimizing the management of acquired resources.

The developers revamped the boss challenges, incorporating different difficulty levels to balance the experience for both beginners and more experienced players.
In addition, the team adjusted the pace of the missions and modified the attack blocking system, encouraging greater engagement during real-time combat.
Additional content after launch
NC America has confirmed that support for the game will continue after its global launch. The first update, titled Scorching Sands, will be released on September 30th and will bring a series of new content.
The update raises the maximum character progression level from 30 to 40 and adds the Burning Sands, a new territory for players to explore.
The update will also include the PvE field boss Stalker Jiangshi, already known from the Blade & Soul universe, as well as new instanced dungeons, individual boss battles, and additional challenges in the turn-based system.
