The recent anime Oshi no Ko is proving to be a phenomenon among otaku, especially due to its incredible premiere numbers. The HIDIVE announced in a press release that Oshi no Ko achieved the best premiere in its history. According to the report, the series ranked first in both views and the number of new subscribers acquired ( i.e., new paying users ) during the first seven days after its premiere.

All these results are not just for the spring 2023 season (April-June) , but for the entire history of the platform.
“We eagerly await the release of 'Oshi no Ko' and are absolutely thrilled with the fan response during its first week,” said John Ledford , president of HIDIVE . He added, “'Oshi no Ko' is a truly unique anime series, and its success so far really illustrates how much the story and characters have resonated with fans. There is still much to see.”
The series premiered on April 12 with a 90-minute episode and is confirmed for a total of eleven episodes, with the HIDIVE handling its distribution in the West.
Synopsis:
The story follows a doctor named Gorou , a fan of a 16-year-old idol Ai Hoshin . One day, Hoshino appears at his office, claiming to be pregnant with twins, but her manager tells her to abort the babies. However, the idol refuses; she wants to have both children. Gorou promises her a safe delivery. Little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure will result in his premature death, or so he thought. Opening his eyes in the arms of his beloved idol, Gorou discovers he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, 's newborn son ! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon discovers that the world of showbiz is full of controversies, where talent doesn't always bring success.
Therefore, Akasaka and Yokoyari began the manga Shueisha 's Young Jump magazine in 2020. Furthermore, the publisher released the sixth compiled book volume in November 2021.
