The story of Gobrou/Approu

The story follows Gobrou, a man killed by a pursuer who was later reincarnated as the weakest goblin in his tribe. However, thanks to a special ability called Absorption, he can grow stronger by consuming enemies, acquiring their powers and constantly evolving.
Thus, Gobrou – now known as Approu – embarks on a path of survival and ascension, defying the rules of a cruel world where the weak are merely prey. Alongside loyal companions, he builds his own community and faces increasingly powerful enemies.

Origin of the work

The anime is based on the light novel written by Kogitsune Kanekiru with illustrations by Yamaada, originally published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro between 2011 and 2018. Later, the work was acquired by AlphaPolis, which also serializes the manga adaptation illustrated by Haruyoshi Kobayakawa.
Furthermore, the manga is ongoing, and the publisher will release volume 13 in Japan on September 26, 2025. In the West, Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the novel and the manga in English.

Finally, Re:Monster returns to once again delight fans of stories of reincarnation and monstrous evolution. The production has not yet announced the premiere date for the new season, but should reveal news soon.
