Bandai Namco has revealed a new gameplay trailer for Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad, an action RPG inspired by the work of Reki Kawahara. The video highlights character abilities, available weapons, and the partner system during battles within the world of Aincrad.

Gameplay showcases weapons and Death Game mode
The game will be released on July 9th in Japan for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version via Steam will arrive on July 10th, 2026. In the West, all platforms will receive the game on the same date. Additionally, the title will have Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate, and Aincrad Edition versions.
The Deluxe Edition includes expansion DLC, extra items, and early access to the "Death Game" mode, where the character's death permanently erases their save data. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Edition adds a digital soundtrack, artbook, and the promotional anime "Unanswered//butterfly".
Sword Art Online Echoes of Aincrad Bonuses
The special content “Unanswered//butterfly” follows supporting characters during the events of the original Sword Art Online. However, the game's main soundtrack is by the singer Aimer with the song “Live to Survive”.
Set in Aincrad, the game places the player among 10,000 participants trapped in the deadly MMO alongside Kirito and Asuna.
