After much speculation, Sword Art Online: Progressive has been confirmed for release as a film, as confirmed in the tweet below:

At the end of the trailer, Asuna's voice actress says: "Gekijou-ban Sword Art Online: Progressive Hoshi Naki Yoru No Aria", which translates to Sword Art Online The Movie: The Aria of the Starless Night.
Voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is confirmed to voice Kirito, and Tomatsu Haruka will voice Asuna.
The A-1 Pictures studio is therefore in charge of the animation.
Sword Art Online: Progressive aims to retell the events of the Aincrad arc, but unlike the first season of the anime, Progressive does so by going through each floor in greater detail.
