Aniplex has revealed the first teaser for the anime The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't A Guy at All (Ki ni Natteru Hito ga Otoko Janakatta), an adaptation of the manga by Sumiko Arai. In addition to showing the first scenes from the series, the video confirmed the premiere for January 2027 and provided details about the main cast.

According to the released material, Akari Kitō will voice the character Aya Osawa, while Mariya Ise will play Mitsuki Koga. Another highlight is the anime's opening theme, which will use the song "Breed," released by the band Nirvana in 1991. Crunchyroll has also confirmed that the series will be streamed on its platform.

Synopsis
The story follows Aya, a high school student who is in love with an employee at a local CD store. However, she is unaware that the mysterious employee is actually her classmate Mitsuki. While trying to hide her identity, Mitsuki finds herself spending more and more time with the girl who admires her alter ego.
Masashi Ishihama is directing the anime at CloverWorks. Rino Yamazaki is handling the series composition, while Kanna Hirayama is responsible for character design. The manga began publication on social media in 2022 and later received official serialization on pixiv Comic and a print edition published by Kadokawa.
Finally, the work also gained recognition in Japanese awards and appeared among the highest-rated manga in rankings aimed at female audiences.
