The My Hero Academia ( Boku no Hero Academia ) franchise surprised fans by announcing a new original anime titled I Am a Hero Too . According to the X profile (formerly Twitter), the project will arrive on streaming services on August 3, 2026, and is part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the work created by Kohei Horikoshi .

The special adapts the canonical one-shot published by Horikoshi in the Ultra Age fanbook . Therefore, the story advances eight years after Deku 's graduation and shows a new phase in the life of the character Eri . Now a teenager and high school student, she lives in a more peaceful society, far removed from the great wars between heroes and villains.

Furthermore, the anime should explore how the new generation faces daily life in a world that has finally found stability. This approach significantly changes the traditional tone of the series, focusing more on the characters' development and the consequences of the peace built by the former heroes.

My Hero Academia's Peaceful Future

The original story of My Hero Academia follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy without powers in a world dominated by so-called "Quirks." After meeting All Might, he inherits a legendary power and enters UA Academy, beginning his journey as a professional hero.

With the new anime, Horikoshi delivers a rare glimpse into the future of the series' universe. Eri, who previously symbolized trauma and rescue, now represents hope and reconstruction. Therefore, the special promises to bring a more emotional and everyday side to the franchise.

Until August arrives, you can keep up with other news about anime, manga , and new seasons on AnimeNew.
