Bandai Namco announced during this week's Nintendo Direct the return of one of the most memorable RPGs in the Tales of. The classic Tales of Eternia will receive a remastered version, scheduled for release on October 16, 2026 on various platforms.

Classic RPG returns with new features
Titled Tales of Eternia Remastered, the game will be released for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer featuring the theme song "flying," performed by the band Garnet Crow.
In the story, players follow Reid Hershel and his companions on a journey through the world of Eternia. The group must prevent the "Grand Fall," an event capable of causing a collision between the worlds of Inferia and Celestia. Throughout the adventure, Reid, Farah, Keele, and Meredy face challenges involving both global threats and personal conflicts.
Unprecedented features in the remaster
Among the new features, the remaster will allow players to freely switch between the original graphics and sound effects and the updated versions. In addition, quality-of-life improvements have been added, such as adjusted encounter frequency, increased experience gain, high-speed mode, battle replay system, and quick recovery.
Originally released for PlayStation in Japan in 2000, Tales of Eternia arrived in the West in 2001 under the title Tales of Destiny II, despite not having a direct connection to the official sequel of Tales of Destiny. The work also received an anime adaptation with 13 episodes aired in 2001.
