The publisher Kadokawa has confirmed that the light novel The Diary of a Middle-Aged Sage's Carefree Life in Another World ( Arafō Kenja no Isekai Seikatsu Nikki ) will be adapted into an anime . The work by Yasukiyo Kotobuki follows an experienced protagonist living a peaceful life in another world.

Takayuki Inagaki will direct at studio YANCHESTER. Hiroko Kanasugi will write the script, and Mariko Fujita will handle character designs. An initial visual was also released along with the official announcement.

The story began as a web novel in 2016 on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website. Later, Kadokawa published the print version with illustrations by Johndee, reaching volume 20 in February and with volume 21 scheduled for April.
Furthermore, the series received a manga illustrated by Maneki, released in 2018 on Square Enix's Manga UP! platform. Currently, the work has over 17 collected volumes in Japan.
Finally, the franchise also expanded with other versions. A spin-off adaptation was launched on ComicWalker back in 2018. Then, in December of this year, a prequel spin-off focused on the character Zelos Merlin emerged, exploring events prior to the main story.
